It's Electric!

It's coming together and I'm getting excited. My dad, our, depending on the day, general contractor, plumber, electrician, or handyman, taught me something a few months ago. I installed just about every interior outlet in our new home! I am very proud of myself for that.

It wasn't perfect of course; there was a learning curve. There may have been a double outlet where I forgot to connect the two circuits and just yesterday dad realized the reason our son's room kept going dark was that when I had pushed the cables back into the outlet boxes I had accidentally left the ground and neutral wires touching, causing the breaker to trip (and prevent an accident!).

But that was just the beginning. Over the last couple months, dad and Nick have been going into the attic to install boxes and make connections for fixtures then coming back down and installing the fixtures, room by room. Slow and agonizing, but very exciting to see they've just about made their way all around the bedrooms and bathrooms! It makes me want to sing: "he'll be coming around the hallway when he comes..."

Yesterday we got our owners' suite ceiling fan up and ordered fixtures for the living and dining room. Stay tuned and we'll share!!

Some of my favs thus far include the wood ceiling fan in the guest room, the adorable little bird light bar in the kids' bathroom and our hallway chandeliers, installed in that order!
