The day after I wrote my first blog post I told my good friend and mentor that she should check it out. She took a quick look right away and responded, lovingly, with "Omg you're such an overachiever. A blog?! Who are you!!!"

Not long after that, I was chatting with another good friend. A new friend! The one I give credit to for saving me from myself as I was starting to homeschool. She shared a picture of her gorgeous 4 year old son hard at work practicing some writing AND, in her typically authentic and open-hearted way, she also shared what was "not pictured." You know, the stuff not typically shared on social media. The stuff that would rightfully prevent us regular folk from thinking homeschooling is always easy and breezy and bright and so we must be doing it wrong.

So that got me to thinking. Man, how do I share the ugly without losing sight of the beauty?

Well, folks, I got a little help from one of my celebrity friends (Disclaimer: I WISH I knew Taylor!). I'm a huuuuge fan of Taylor Swift. You know, the terrible kind of fan; with no time; that only knows her latest album just dropped because my sister was kind enough to send a Spotify link this morning. So yeah, that's me. When I saw the Anti-Hero music video (thanks again, sis!) and learned about the #TSAntiHeroChallenge I was instantly grateful. There it was. The answer to my question. How do you share the ugly without losing sight of the beauty? You just do it.

To anyone who thinks I'm some sort of hero because I am who I am or do what I do...thank you! You're sweet, but... "Hi. It's me. I'm the problem. It's me":

I seek external validation.

I'm impatient.

I yell too much.
